The Music

The music featured through the site is varied. There is plenty of folk-based material including real live Morris bells and sticks! There is also comedy with Bulldog and Tex Braithwaite, who also provides a splash of Hank Williams and original c & w. There is out-and-out rock and roll and blues from 88 Straight and gentle ballads and classics from Sophie King.

The original Magenta albums were recorded on 8 and 16 track tape and pressed onto vinyl, to be issued as LP albums. The first album 'Canterbury Moon' was recorded in 1978 and re-released as a CD in 2002 on the Kissing Spell label. The tapes for the band’s double album 'Recollections' survived and were digitally re-mastered by Andy Allen who produced the original in Bristol in 1981. This process allegedly involved baking the original tapes in an oven for several hours! Magenta's third album will be available in CD format soon.

The original British Bulldog album entitled 'Geoffrey Goes to Pieces' was only available as a cassette, but this has now also been converted to CD format. This album featured Paul Darby and Geoff Teague and was recorded 'live' at The Heron pub in Weston Super Mare in 1986 by Baku Mobile Studios.

Other CDs available through the site were recorded digitally.,
